During this year’s edition of the CEV Cup, the team from Kędzierzyn-Koźle is performing very well. One year ago the team lost in the Challenge round. Now, it will even play it the final, although the way to get here was not easy at all. In the first round ZAKSA defeated Sun Oulu team from Finland. Afterwards, the team proved to be better Arisu Marmouris Saloniki, from Greece. In 1/4 of the final ZAKSA had a challenging battle with Unicaja Almeria from Spain-after victory in the “gold set” the team promotes to the next round.
Equally emotional was the semi-final with CSKA Sofia. The away match was not lucky for Krzysztof Stelmach’s team. Bulgaria won in three sets (27:25, 25:21, 25:20). The revenge in ”Azoty” hall was an excellent show. ZAKSA won 3:0 (25:23, 33:31, 25:22). Furthermore, the ”gold set” won by the host team 15:12, decided about its promotion to the great final.
The final matches with Sisley will be an important event for the polish fans, to see some popular volleyball stars in reality, including: Samuel Papi, Dante Boninfante, Alessandro Fei or Novica Bjelica.
This morning the players from Kędzierzyn-Koźle went to Wrocławia, from where they will fly to Treviso. They will have two trainings at the place. – We go to Italy in order to fight. This is the big final and we have to do our best. We have 50% of chances to win. If we do not manage to win in Treviso, we will try to make up losses in Poland. However, the most important part will perform in Kędzierzyn-Koźle – says the second coach of ZAKSA, Andrzej Kubacki.
Patryk Czarnowski will be missing in the composition of ZAKSA team - because of the contusion he had to stay in Poland. Instead, Sebastian Świderski went to Italy.
On Monday, sale of the tickets for the matches in “Azoty” hall has started. The normal ticket costs 50zł and the half-price ticket 20zł. From the very first hours of the sale there is a big interest about the match.
-In several sale-points we have sold all of the tickets already yesterday. Some tickets are still available to purchase in the club, however, I think all of them will be sold out today – says the Director of the club, Wanda Pietrzyk.
