To everyone involved in organization of the event in Lublinie together with President of Jastrzębski Węgiel, Zdzisław Grodecki, I would like to express the words of thanks. Not only the fans had possibility to see the match of two top teams of the PlusLeague, but also took part in the evening with significant representatives of the volleyball environment in Poland – said Władysław Pałaszewski.
The benefit of Tomasz Wójtowicz and Lech Łasko became an important event in Lublin. The tickets sold quickly and soon we ran out of them.
- I met Tomasz Wójtowicz very early. In 1971 we went on a Junior European Championships to Barcelona. There were also the following representatives in the national team those days: Mirosław Rybaczewski, Alojzy Świderek and Wojciech Baranowicz. We won the silver medal for the first time in the history of Poland in youth category. I met Tomek earlier at the sport camp in Giżycko. I remember him to be a very slim person – says Władysław Pałaszewski.
Soon Hubert Wagner became interested with Tomasz Wójtowicz. The player of Avia Świdnik joined the national team. – I always repeat that Hubert Wagner has twelve excellent players and Wójtowicz, Rysiek Bosek and the deceased Wiesław Gawłowski had a constant place in the first six. The event was good opportunity to recall the achievements of the two Olympic champions from Lublin. We also talked about history of the polish volleyball and reminded the younger people successes, as we have things to be proud of – said Władysław Pałaszewski.
Another hero of Wednesday’s evening was Lech Łasko who player for Gwardia Wrocław, when Władysław Pałaszewski was a coach.
- We had a great team which won the third place at the European Cup – said Władysław Pałaszewski. Worth mentioning is the fact that under his supervision also Resovia Rzeszów was ranked second at the European Cups tournament in 70s.
