Today is the 31st anniversary of birthday of Arkadiusz Gołaś. The volleyball player, representative of the polish national team died tragically. Arek was born on the 10th of May 1981 in Przasnysz. He started the adventure with volleyball in the age of 10. Unfortunately, it has been tragically interrupted. At the year of the Olympic Games in Atlanta, when Arek was 15 years old he started trainings with MKS MOS Wola Warszawa. In 1998 together with the team he won a silver medal of the Championships of Poland. Two years later, he became the champion of Poland of juniors. Very quickly he has been noticed by the coaches of the best polish senior teams. Arek decided to play for AZS Częstochowa. In the age of 20, in 2001 he took the middle position in the polish national team. Specialists forecasted him an amazing career. Since the year 2004 he played with the Italian club - Sempre Volley Padwa. After the end of the season 2004/2005 he signed three years contract with Lube Banca Marche Macerata. On the 21st of July 2005 he married with Agnieszka Dziewońska. He died less than two months later. On Friday, the 26th of September 2005, around 07:10h in Griffen close to Klagenfurt in Austria, when the car run by his wife suddenly turned right and hit the concrete wall. Arek Gołaś died at the place of the accident, whereas his wife has been taken to the hospital. Arek was buried at the cemetery in Ostrołęka.
