The players from Tauron MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza have confirmed their leading position by defeating ASPTT Miluza 3:0, on Wednesday, during the first CEV Cup semifinal match. Both teams have already met with each other during the last season’s Champions League. Then, Waldemar Kawka’s team won twice with result 3:0 and 3:1. The revenge match in Dąbrowa is planned for the 2nd of March. Tauron players are strong favorites.
The Champion from Bulgaria defeated ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle 3:0 (27:25, 25:21, 25:20) this Tuesday. This season CSKA team played in the Champions’ League group phase, where defeated Zenit Kazań and Generali Unterhaching, but unfortunately did not promote to the playoff phase. The Bulgarian team is composed of a well known players from PlusLiga, including: Jewgieni Iwanow, middle position and Nikołaj Iwanow, setter.
The remaining performances of the polish teams do not belong to the best ones. The worst failure experienced the team Bank BPS Fakro Muszyna, losing in the 2nd Champions’ League playoff round 0:3 with Rabita Baku. Consequently, the team lost opportunity to promote to the Final Four tournament. At the european tournaments, when teams have the same number of matches won, not considering the importance of particular ones, the principle of the “gold” set till 15 points is obligatory. Next week, Jastrzębski Węgiel and PGE Skra Bełchatów will play for qualifications to the Final Four.
