-We start realization of our program titled "We are looking for the successors of Polish National Teams in volleyball". First of all, we want to reach young people from the villages with no clubs. Mayors of the towns and villages offered their support-says Ryszard Ciężki, President of the Kujawy-Pomerania Volleyball Federation. Ryszard Ciężki is the head of the district from the 22nd of December 2010, after resignation of Józef Rogacki.
- I've been involved with volleyball for 42 years. In November 1976 with a group of people we established the local Volleyball Federation. Now, there are only three of us left from the group- Henryk Borowski, Waldemar Sagan and myself - recalls Ryszard Ciężki. Today when we speak about volleyball in Kujawy-Pomerania Voivodeship we think of two clubs - GCB Centrostal Bydgoszcz and Delecta Bydgoszcz, strong teams from the PlusLiga (Women) and PlusLiga (Men).
-These are of course the two most important teams of our district, but our volleyball do not finish here. Our latest program, which I mentioned above, aims to develop this sport discipline all across the voivodeship. In the villages with no clubs we will organize the tournaments. Of course, not without the support of the Mayors of the towns and villages, as well as local governments. Our coaches will go on such competitions. As soon as we find young and talented people, we will start to talk to them and their parents and encourage them to play volleyball - says President Ciężki.
The second activity of the Kujawy-Pomerania Volleyball Federation is cooperation with the School Sports Association. - We go to competitions organized by the association, not only in volleyball. Our coaches are also being sent to the athletic competitions. There, we are looking for successors too. The coaches are accompanied by the players from Centrostal or Delecta. Even if we do not find anyone talented, with this procedure, we may spread the group of volleyball sympathizers.
