Around 600 4th to 6th grade students fought for the title of Volleyball Youth School, during the Fight – Win – Gdańsk campaign, from November 21 till 23. The campaign was inspired by the upcoming 2017 CEV Volleyball European Championship – Men, with Gdańsk as one of the host cities. The school tournament was held in three cities, namely Gdańsk, Lębork and Malbork. In the course of play combined with sports rivalry, students had a chance to hone their volleyball skills under the eye of professional coaches and take part in a lecture on motivational techniques.
These techniques were presented by no other than Kacper “Kacpa” Lachowicz – a coach who works wish such sports stars as Marcin Gortat and Piotr Gruszka. He directed the students’ focus to their future goals, coached them in positive rivalry, as well as good sportsmanship and teamwork.
At the end of each event, students cheered for their team at the “School Challenge”, where each group could win the Volleyball Youth School title and prizes for the contestants and their school.
The upcoming EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017 is a perfect occasion to start this kind of competition between elementary schools. It can be used to form positive attitudes associated with sports rivalry: setting goals, fair-play and cooperation.
