On February 29 all Europe will have a chance to spend the additional 366th day of the year with Volleyball. "One Day More 4 Volleyball” is a campaign set by the CEV to promote Volleyball as a sport for everyone. Poland’s Volleyball School Centers (Siatkarskie Ośrodki Szkolne – "S.O.S-es") have decided to join the event.
The idea is to organize the maximum possible number of volleyball matches all around Europe on this special day, which comes only once in four years.
Volleyball School Centers will not miss out on an event like this – said Waldemar Wspaniały, Head of the S.O.S. Project. – We have a 600 schools in our project, including our Patronage Schools and those being part of the S.O.S. Academy. And so, we will have not only elementary, but also junior and senior high students play on that day. I am sure that each of these schools will be glad to join the initiative to make it a great volleyball holiday in Poland, but also to show the strength of our project. I am also counting on youth and senior volleyball clubs to join the campaign.
Waldemar Wspaniały underlined that the 29th of February will be a great occasion to promote volleyball in Poland. Volleyball in Poland is becoming a national sport – and this position is well deserved. We can show that it is a sport for anyone, regardless of age, sex, and where you live. It’s not your financial nor technical abilities that matter. You just need to want to play. This year in Poland we have some great volleyball tournaments to look forward to – The CEV Champions League Final Four and the FIVB World League Final Six. That’s another reason to spend “one day more” with volleyball - said Wspaniały.
Anyone can join the campaign. All you need to do is to organize and play a match (one set to 29 points, 6x6 players). Applications (for matches in Poland) can be sent to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
