On Friday FIVB representatives visited the Polish Volleyball Federation’s headquarters. The meeting was arranged to discuss the Opening Ceremony and Match of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014, which is scheduled to happen on August 30, at the National Stadium in Warsaw.
“The very idea of having the opening game played at a football stadium is unprecedented in the history of World Championships; therefore its setting should be as attractive as possible. The Opening Ceremony should send a clear message that a very special tournament is starting. It is a huge challenge and responsibility before more than 60 thousand spectators, who will take their seats at the National Stadium on August 30, as well as the millions, who will watch it on TV over 200 countries” –said Miroslaw Przedpelski, President of the Polish Volleyball Federation.
A presentation of the Opening Ceremony concept, prepared by a well known TV spectacle director Boleslaw Pawica and Giorgios Stylianos – a renowned designer, was received by the guests very positively and with much interest.
“This is a very bold and modern project, making great use of the space and features of the National Stadium. There is no doubt that this event will build up the prestige of the championship and, from the very start, communicate the uniqueness of the competition” – said Fabio Azevedo, FIVB General Director, who was accompanied by Gabrielle van Zwieten and Guido Betti.
The guests and the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014 Operating Committee and TV Polsat representatives also visited the National Stadium. They discussed technical details and logistics of the Ceremony and the Poland vs. Serbia opening match, which are a great challenge for both organizers and producers of the show.
The Opening Ceremony of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014 will feature many elements representing the tournament’s international rank, Polish values, culture, sport, and the game of volleyball. The show will incorporate performances by famous artists, and some of the latest technologies will be employed in its production.
