- I would like volleyball to be so popular in Russia as in Poland, said Maksim Michajłow, who had his 24th birthday on Monday. He had his best gift a day before, when his club Zenit Kazań won the Champions’ League tournament in Atlas Arena hall in Łódź.
- The final match with PGE Skra Bełchatów was a tough one. After the match I completely dispossessed of power. The emotion were extremely high. The advantage in points was balanced. Nevertheless, the winner could be only one. Poland can be an example for Russia. This country loves volleyball and organizes great events – said Maksim Michajłow. The player was given two individual awards – the best server and the best scorer of the tournament.
The first set has been won by Zenit 25:15, in the second PGE Skra was better 25:16. – In the first set polish team was under pressure. We played in front of fourteen thousand spectators in the hall. The match has been very balanced from the third set – added Maksim Michajłow.
In a tie-break the coach of Russian team, Władimir Alekno, asked twice for the time. – It was a tactical behavior because he wanted Mariusz Wlazły to leave the position of serves – said Maksim Michajłow.
