Maciej Twardowski as a referee in Jekaterynburg
Six referees were on duty during the tournaments for the Cup of Jelcyn in Jekaterynburg. Three of them were from Russia, one from China, one from the Netherlands and one from Poland. Our country has been represented by Maciej Twardowski from Radom. – I was nominated by the President of the Polish Volleyball Federation. Whereas, the FIVB approved my candidature for the international referee at the beginning of April 2011-said Maciej Twardowski.
Maciej Twardowski passed his first international referee exam in 1994, when he was 24. Then he could perform matches of youth, at the regional level. His career as a referee developed very quickly. Three years later he promoted to referee at the central level matches. I finished the course for the international referee in 2007, during the Memorial of Huber Wagner in Olsztyn. The appointment arrived at the beginning of April-says Maciej Twardowski. He has already participated in the matches of the Challenge Cup and the CEV Cup.
- In my opinion the Organization of the Cup of Jelcyn is very high. The teams were accommodated in a very elegant hotel. The matches were performed in a nice sport hall, located nearby. The way from the hotel to the hall was up to several minutes. As this is just the beginning of the season, I think the level of the matches was high-said Maciej Twardowski. The referee was on duty during the match Russia - China (for the first place in the group) and Brazil - Russia (one of semifinals). The organizers took care for participants of the tournament to visit interesting places in Jekaterynburg. At the day off we could see the frontier of Europe and Asia, nearby the city where the tournament took place.
