Jerzy Janowicz, Just like Zygmunt Chajzer has been given a proposal to play for PGE Skra Bełchatów in a charity match for UNICEF organization. Even thought, the tennis player’s parents played volleyball professionally, he was not familiar with this sport. – I player volleyball maybe three times in my life – said Janowicz. – I hope my parents do not feel offended because of my performance. Without a racket I do not feel confident on court. The position most familiar for me here at the moment is ‘a bench’ – said the player from Łódź.
The sportsman placed 26th in the ATP ranking said what was the most difficult for him on volleyball court. – I was very stressed. I did not know what can I expect from myself and my opponents. For me, the tough issue was to survive on court. I was stressed not to get hurt too. However, I did not come to Częstochowa in order to play excellent volleyball, but to help in this undertaking. In my opinion I managed to do it.
Janowicz has been delighted with volleyball public. – The atmosphere on stands was phenomenal. The competition hall is marvelous and almost entire hall has been filled with fans.
Jerzy Janowicz gave his racket on the auction. It was the same one he played when he won with Andy Murray. – It is very hard for me to give it to someone else, as it is a special and valuable think for me – admitted the tennis player.
