PTPS Piła (52 points), before Murowana Goślina (46 points) and Chemik Police (42 points) – these are the leading top three teams of the 1st women’s league, round robin. The last team qualified to the play-off phase is Gedania Żukowo.

-I am repeating all the time, that volleyball is a predictable sport, therefore, many people gave such a forecast ranking even before the start of the season. Eventually, Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski was also taken into consideration instead of one of the four teams qualified-said Mirosław Zawieracz, coach of the players from Piła.

At the last match of the round robin PTPS Piła defeated KŚ AZS Politechnika Śląska 3:0 (25:11, 25:7, 25:23). The starting composition of the team included the players who did not have the opportunity to play a lot, during the round robin. – The two first sets easily won, especially the second one up to 7 points, cheated the vigilance of my team. As it usually happens in such situations, the players too quickly believed in easy victory. In the third part we had a tough battle for the victory, what also had its good sites, as I could watch how does the team copes with a stressful situation-added the coach from Piła.

During the round robin, PTPS Piła lost two matches, both with the result 2:3 with Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski and Police.  –We have won the last six matches preserving the results 3:0 and I am sure, we will keep on improving our abilities. Besides, for over one week the players were having a very difficult training. Still we have to face the most important matches for victory in the 1st league-finished the coach, Mirosław Zawieracz.

PTPS will face Gedania Żukowo in the 1st play-off round. According to the website of the club, Gedania’s players went to Kraków with composition of six. Paweł Kramka’s team did not let go and forced a higher-ranked rival to play in tie-break. Eliteski Skawa AZS UEK won 3:2 (25:17, 25:23, 23:25, 23:25, 15:13).
