In the I round of the play off Piła eliminated Gedania Żukowo with three wins 3:0. KS Murowana Goślina won twice with PLKS Pszczyna 3:0, loosing one set of the match. Silesia Volley I three times defeated AZS WSBiP KSZO Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, although this time, the victory did not come very easy. One match finished 3:2, and the other two 3:1.
The biggest emotions were at the match of Chemik Police with Eliteski Skawa AZS UEK Kraków. The team from Kraków proved to be better four times 3-1. – It is definitely a surprise says the coach of PTPS Piła, Mirosław Zawieracz. - Police joined the game ranked third, and Kraków ranked sixth. The score of the play off shows how balanced is the level of the game in the I League.
The game in the play off of the I league is at its top at the moment. Winners of the semifinals will promote to the final, from where there is a short way to the battle of PlusLeague (Women). The winner of the latter will get qualification and the looser will have opportunity to play against the team of the top league ranked ninth.
- Since the very beginning we wanted to promote to the top league teams of the female volleyball in Poland. There are still many matches before us. First, we must eliminate Silesia. In the round robin we have won three times with the team, but it does not have to mean anything. Chorzów is composed of the plyers who have experienced from the PlusLeague (Women). The composition of our nearest rivals includes: Justyna Ordak-setter, starring in Mielec - said Mirosław Zawieracz.
The third term of the play off has been planned on the 9th of April – semifinals of the Enea Cup of the Women’s Cup of Poland, in Inowrocław. Players from Piła have already gained promotion.
- We want to move as far as possibile at the Cup of Poland, however, we realize the favorite team of the1/4 final - PTPS-Bank BPS Muszynianka Fakro Muszyna. We will see how the game will develop – said the coach Zawieracz.
Let’s remind that on the 12th March 2009 in Poznań Piła volleyball players defeated Winiary Bakalland Kalisz 3:0 (25:23, 25:23, 25:17) at the final of the Championship of Poland. Therefore, not so long ago the volleyball from Piła was on the country’s top. – Nevertheless, it was a different club and a different team – adds the coach Marian Zawieracz.
