Małgorzata Glinka-Mogentale joined the polish sportsmen, who won the Cup of Europe or the Champions League. Her team, VakifGunesTTelekom Stambuł defeated Rabita Baku 3:0 (25:13, 25:20, 25:18). The victory of the Turkish team was very strong.

The team of Katarzyna Skowrońska-Dolata FenerbahceAcibadem Stambuł defeated Scavolini Pesaro 3:1 (12:25, 25:21, 25:21, 25:21) during the (Women) Champions League match for the 3rd place of the tournament. On Saturday, in semifinals VakifGunesTTelekom Stambuł won with FenerbahceAcibadem after a tough fight. According to many experts it was a premature final.

In 1978  Płomień Milowice won the Cup of Europe (Men). Dorota Świeniewicz, Katarzyna Gujska, Michał Winiarski and Łukasz Żygadło together with their Italian teams were having a triumph during the (Women) Champions League. List of the polish sportsmen having the Cup of Europe or the Champions League title is not a long one. Except the above mentioned volleyball players, the following names are also on the list: footballers Zbigniew Boniek and Józef Młynarczyk, as well as a rugby player Grzegorz Kacała.
