The recent press conference in Gdańsk dealt with the distribution of tickets for the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014 group C matches, as well as the details of the junior high school tournament – “Gdańsk Mini World Championship”.

The meeting was opened by Mr. Andrzej Trojanowski, Director of President’s Bureau of Sports. He emphasized that the FIVB World Championship this September will be another (after the European Championships and World League) great event, which sees cooperation between the city of Gdańsk and Polish Volleyball Federation. The city officials have also presented a special public transport ticket with the Championship’s logo that will help to inform most of Gdańsk citizens about their city being a host to this spectacular event.

“Gdańsk Mini World Championship” – a tournament for junior high schools of the Pomeranian Voivodeship – will be yet another element of World Championship’s promotion. Details of the project were presented at Tuesday’s meeting by Michał Rudnicki of LOTOS Trefl Gdańsk. Students are first going to compete locally in eight city-districts (Gdańsk, Gdynia, Pruszcz Gdański, Rumia, Malbork, Lębork, Kościerzyna, Chojnice) and the best 24 teams will advance to the finals. The final phase will take place in Gdańsk, on the same days as the World Championship matches. Each school team will be seeded as one of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014 participants, and the tournament’s formula and schedule will correspond to that of the actual World Championship.

Polish Volleyball Federation Executive Director Wojciech Czayka informed about the distribution system for World Championship matches at ERGO ARENA. Gdańsk’s Group C of the tournament will see Russia, Bulgaria, Egypt and China, as well as two NORCECA teams. Each of their national federations will be able to book 10% of match tickets. Additional distribution points will be opened in the Kaliningrad Oblast, as many Russian fans would gladly travel to Poland’s Tricity, to support their players.

Three matches will be played on each day of the tournament. Tickets for the first match, starting 13:30, will cost between PLN 20 and 60. Tickets for the next two matches are sold as a packet, with prices varying from PLN 30 to 90. Tickets can be purchased starting April 28, via www.ticketpro.pl.

The FIVB World Championship will be preceded by matches between Poland national team and superbly performing Iran, at this year’s elite World League competition. The matches will be played at ERGO ARENA, July 4-5. These tickets are also available at www.ticketpro.pl.
