- The 1st league teams’ rate is very aligned, but regarding the level of their sport skills, Plusliga is definitely ahead - says the 2nd coach of Ślepsk Suwalki, Peter Poskrobko, not so long ago seen at the top league matches.
One of the most interesting characters of the British team Ślepsk Suwałki is Andrew Pink, who has a chance to play in the Olympic Games, in London. Great Britain as the host is guaranteed participation in the Olympic tournament. Arie Brokking from Netherland, coach of the British National Team was recently at Ślepsk’s match and watched his player. - Andrew Pink plays on the position of receiver and still has some problems with reception, therefore, lack of this skill sometimes prevent him from being chosen to the very first group of six. Still, the British player has a strong jump serve. Furthermore, he is a very dynamic player, using fast balls to perform the attack, doing well in the block - adds Piotr Poskrobko.
When considering popularity, volleyball in Suwałki is on the very top, similarly to football. The matches of the 1st league top teams gather almost 600 spectators, as many as during the 2nd league’s football matches of the local Wigry. The Suwałki team's name comes from the district of Augustów nearby, with the yacht shipyard called 'Ślepsk’. - Our main benefactors are the Suwałki City Council and the owner of the shipyard, Józef Wiśniewski - says the 2nd coach of Suwałki team. The first coach is Adam Alexandrovich.
Many coaches from the 1st league point out that the level of the participants is aligned. - Certainly, sport skills in Plusliga are much bigger. It would be hard for the 1st league teams, even the best ones, to keep up with the top league teams. GTPS Rajbud Gorzów Wielkopolski indeed managed to eliminate Fart Kielce in the Cup of Poland 3:2, but it was only one game. In the long term perspective, Plusliga’s professionalism would definitely bring highest results. In addition, many teams from the 1st league are not organizationally and financially prepared to face the best teams – concluded Piotr Poskrobko.
