Jizhong Wei, who on Friday will be replaced by the new President, mentioned all the changes and reforms he managed to introduce during his presidency. He wished many successes to the new administration and the new president who should be ‘captain of the ship, more than a coach’.  – As I try to sum up all the reforms we managed to achieve, I am aware that it would not be possible without unity and goodwill of all members of our organization. For the past four years I did my best to make FIVB more transparent and democratic. My goal to make the FIVB a real sports institution, non-profit – said Wei.

- Since the beginning I knew that I am not going to be interested in re-election, to avoid being accused of personal interests. With the support of the Board I tried to shape the FIVB into more democratic and transparent institution. I insisted on respecting the Olympic regulations, which say that money allocated for sport, should be spent on sport. Furthermore, we have also strengthened the position of beach volleyball by introducing the World Cup and the Continental Cup tournaments. Thanks to these actions beach volleyball has been integrated with volleyball indoor. We have also intensified trainings for young referees-mentioned the President.

- Nevertheless, I have to admit there is still a lot to be done and having the opportunity I would like to apologize everyone for not introducing all these changes during my presidency.  The reforms of the authorities of the FIVB have not been enough, as we still have problems with competition format – new technologies should be introduced as soon as possible, to support the referees. I started to take care of the marketing issues too late because it also needs many changes – analyzed Jizhong Wei.

- Many thanks to everyone who asked me to participate in the re-elections. However, in order to introduce democratic elections I have to resign. I do it with great joy and confidence that new authorities will govern the FIVB better than I used to do – finished the President who on Friday will be replaced by one of three candidates: Doug Beal, Ary Graça or Chris Schacht.
