After eleven years Polish Cup return to the Athletes from Kedzierzyn – Kozle. In the final match of ENEA CUP 2013, which was held in beautiful new sports hall in Czestochowa, ZAKSA beat Resovia Rzeszow 3:1 (19:25, 25:18, 25:21, 25:23).

After eleven years Polish Cup return to the Athletes from Kedzierzyn – Kozle. In the final match of ENEA CUP 2013, which was held in beautiful new sports hall in Czestochowa, ZAKSA beat Resovia Rzeszow 3:1 (19:25, 25:18, 25:21, 25:23).

The beginning of the match belonged to Rzeszow. They played in block well and lead out effective counterattacks. Asseco Resovia lead 2:0, 9:6 and after second technical time-out even 16:11. They won first set till 19.

Sunday’s match ZAKSA started without Antonin Rouzier (he was replaced by Dominik Witczak). In second set coach Daniel Castellani returned him to the game and play of ZAKSA’s team immediately started to be better. They strengthened service and finally began to use counterattacks. The advantage of the team was huge and ZAKSA won second set and equalized the battle 1:1.

Beginning of third set was good block and perfect service of Rzeszow team. Andrzej Kowal’s team achieved easy 8:3 winning on first technical timeout. ZAKSA woke up on time and came on behind at 17:18. Till the end of set we watched equal fight. ZAKSA won 25:21.

Fourth set was full of twists and turns. For most of the time ZAKSA played well with very good service. Resovia failed on reception and attack but still didn’t lose faith in winning. Resovia came to 22:22 but Nowakowski missed his service and Kosok failed on attack. ZAKSA defeated Resovia 25:23 and won whole match 3:1.

We lost match of Polish Cup Final. We regret very much. ZAKSA played better and won the Cup. Congratulations to them. Now we have to concentrate on league.

Pawel Zagumny (ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle captain):

We are very happy for winning Polish Cup. Except of first set, we played very good match. Despite of health problems of Antonin Rouzier, he managed to play till the end of the competition. We hope this injury is not serious. Today we are really very happy. We hope that the trophy will give us wings to fight for the Polish championship.

Andrzej Kowal (Asseco Resovia Rzeszow Coach):

Congratulations to the team led by Daniel Castellani. They played a very good match and deserved to this trophy. From my side, I would kindly like to thank to my team for fight and determination. Nobody can say that we were not fighting. Today we gave everything from us. We have shown, that even in difficult situations we are able to get up and fight till the end. In my opinion, if we will have more training sessions and all health problems will gone, we are able to play in Plus Liga on higher level.
