Atom Trefl Sopot, defeated in the fourth semi-final match Muszynianka Bank BPS Fakro Muszyna 3:2 (25:22, 25:27, 25:27, 25:13, 15:11). Both teams presented a high level of volleyball and provided fans with a lot of emotions.
Atom team started better. The host team quickly gained advantage in points, which gradually increased. The team of coach Serwiński made a lot of errors and failed with the serves. When the result was 20:14 Muszyna players decided to make up the losses 23:22. But it was too late and the set has been won by the team from Sopot 25:22.
The second set was also on the side of coach’s Chiappini team because for all the time they kept multipoint advantage. At the result 24:19 it seemed that nothing or no one is able to snatch the victory from the host team. Then Agnieszka Bednarek-Kasza appeared at Muszyna’s side as a server and with the help of her colleagues she managed to lead the team to win 25:27.
The third set finished with the same result. However, since the beginning of the tone it has been given by the Muszynianka players. They had four points advantage over the rival. Just before the second technical break the players of Atom led to 14:14 and from that moment the battle was balanced. At the end, the host team led with two points 21:19, but again did not manage to preserve the advantage till the end.
The fourth party was entirely at the side of the host. Players of Muszyna failed to deal with a good game of the rivals. After a service ace of Dziękiewicz, Atom won 25:13 and led to a tie-break.
The fifth set started well for Muszynianka team, which quickly gained two-point advantage. However, the sensational play of Eleanora Dzięwkiewicz, when changing the sides of court, caused that Trefl won 8:5. There were many interesting actions during the tie-break, spectacular blocks and great defense on both sides of the court. Paulina May had some great actions. The final ball was on Ssuschke-Voigt. Atom won 15:11 and the first time in history, won the title of the Champion of Poland.
The MVP of the tournament was Eleonora Dziękiewicz, the middle position player of Atom, who gained 23 points!
