Players of Asseco Resovia Rzeszów won first place in the Young League’s ranking. They overtook PGE Bełchatów. This season for the first time in history Young League’s tournament took place. Rzeszów’s team has already secured the gold medal on Friday, when in Błażowa Asseco Resovia Rzeszów defeated Tytan AZS Częstochowa 3:0 (25:18, 25:19, 25:16).
-Asseco Resovia had a huge advantage regarding each of the elements of the game. The result of the match is the best evidence for dominance of Artur Łozy’s team. The match was accompanied by the great interest of the audience. The hall was full - said Wiesław Radomski, President of Podkarpacki Volleyball Federation and Vice-President of the Polish Volleyball Federation. Worth mentioning is the fact, that club from Rzeszów took care of their volleyball fans and organized special buses for them.
On Saturday, during the last round, the team from Rzeszów could afford the comfort of defeat - and in fact, it was very close. Asseco Resovia defeated Indykpol AZS UWM Olsztyn 3:2 (25:10, 21:25, 29:27, 20:25, 15:13). In the tie break visitors led 6:0. - We had the strength to win the two matches - said Arthur Łoza, after the tournament. – However, on Saturday I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to play. Our rivals made us face difficult conditions and except for the first set, they were equally well prepared. It is a highly ranked, strong team. Thanks to the enormous support of fans and two on-court substitutions we made up for the loss in tie break 7:7- confessed Artur Łoza, the coach.
During the eighteen matches of the Young League tournament Asseco Resovia lost four times with Delecta Bydgoszcz, AZS Politechnika Warszawska, Indykpol AZS and UWM Olsztyn.
The Young League Champions will receive the gold medals during Wednesday ceremony, before PlusLiga’s match, Asseco-Resovia Rzeszów against ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
