Polish volleyball players during the period of preparations before the major events of the season will play in the Memorial of Jelcyn. This will be the debut of the red-and-whites in this tournament. -Because of the World Championships in Japan, the league season has begun later than normally and consequently will also end up later, not only in Poland.

-Because of the World Championships in Japan, the league season has begun later than normally and consequently will also end up later, not only in Poland. Therefore, we will not participate in the Montreux Volley Masters tournament, to be performed at the beginning of June. We are granted participation in the Memorial of Borys Jelcyn, in term 2nd – 11th of July, with regular participation of a strong teams. Yesterday in Bydgoszcz, we have had a meeting of the Training Department and discussed the calendar of preparations to the World Grand Prix and the Championships of Europe. We would like it to be as good as possible. In September we participate in the Memorial of Agata Mróz. We are also looking for more sparing matches, to have enough possibilities to practice – said Jerzy Matlak, coach of the senior women’s national team.

On Sunday, the coach Matlak will observe match of the PlusLeague (Women), between GCB Centrostal Bydgoszcz and Bank BPS Muszynianka Fakro Muszyna (1:3). – The Vice-champions of Poland played very well, thus overslept during the third set. For sure, one can be satisfied with the level of the competition. Several players from Muszynianka did a great work for the success, for example: Joanna Kaczor and Milena Sadurek – said coach of the polish senior women’s national team.

Jerzy Matlak is pleased because of the aligned level of the PlusLeague (Women) competition. – We have several candidates to play in the playoff round. There are many matches presenting the aligned level of both teams. Nobody can be sure of the result. However, we are worried about the lack of possibility to check skills of the young players-there are many of them in the clubs. They play in PlusLeague (Women) very rarely. Sometimes, during the national team sparing we lack the possibility to test them-said Jerzy Matlak.
In 2010, at the Final of the Memorial of Jelcyn, Russia defeated China 3:0 (30:28, 25:16, 25:17) and in the third place match the Netherlands defeated Italy 3:0 (25:23, 25:19, 25:23).
