Wojciech Ferens changed Mateusz Mika in the third set against the Netherlands. The new player of AZS UWM Olsztyn performed well, scoring eight points.
“It was a good game for me; too bad the score wasn’t also good for us,” said Ferens after the match.
The Dutch imposed difficult conditions today. Right at the beginning of the match it was clear that it would be hard to win. “It was difficult for us to keep them away from the net. Our fast serves scored many points. They received well and the setter made it hard for our blockers what resulted in losing two sets by our team. In the next two sets we managed to “read” our opponents what gave us a positive score,” says Ferens.

In the third set the white and reds played a mean game, beating the Dutch 25:9. “We made fewer mistakes. We also blocked more precisely what was a key to victory in that set. This time we made the game more difficult for them, but they managed to keep up in the fourth set. It was a tug-of-war situation, but we couldn’t bring it to tie break. We simply had no luck,” says the team’s opposite hitter. Poland has one win and one loss so far. They will play against Belgium tomorrow. What must be improved before the match? ”We must make fewer mistakes and keep on fighting,” says Wojtek.
