Poland erased a six-point deficit in the fourth set to overcome Turkey 26-24, 25-19, 25-27, 26-24 in capturing a berth in the quarterfinals of the FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship at Baja California High Performance Center on Wednesday.

Poland erased a six-point deficit in the fourth set to overcome Turkey 26-24, 25-19, 25-27, 26-24 in capturing a berth in the quarterfinals of the FIVB Boys’ U19 World Championship at Baja California High Performance Center on Wednesday.

Consecutive blocks by Krzystov Bienkowski, Aleksander Sliwka and Pawel Gryc capped the spectacular comeback of the Polish side.

The Poles put themselves in a hole by committing 40 unforced errors to 21 by the Turkish but out- served the defeated side 12-3 and held a 14-11advantage in the blocking department.

Bartosz Bucko and Rafal Szymura each finished with 22 points while Sliwka and Gryc chipped in 12 and 11 respectively. 

Ogbai Enaboifo led Turkey with 18 points followed by Yasin Aydin and Yigit Gulmzezoglu with 10 points apiece.
