Karolina Piotrowska, 4 December 2012
Polish players will play with Brazil, Bulgaria, Argentina and France, in the group phase of the next year’s edition of the World League. The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) made some changes in the formula of the tournament, ex. increased the number of participants from 16 to 18 teams. The white-and-reds won the tournament in 2012. In the final they defeated USA 3:0.
The division on groups of the next year’s edition of the tournament took place in Lausanne, during the World League Council. So far, in group C there are four teams, but two more will join it during the World League Council on the 15th of December. The final tournament, scheduled on the 16th -21st of July 2013 – with participation of eight teams, including three best teams from groups A and B, as well as one winner from group C and the host team of the event to be known till the end of January.
- The main goal of the change is to attract the competition. As a consequence, every match of the intercontinental phase will be important. Now there are strong teams in two groups.
