- Rivals of Poland at the ECH: Bulgaria
Karolina Piotrowska, 8 September 2011
For the national team of Bulgaria the last exam before the European Championships was the tournament titled „Tournoi de France”. Except the team of Radostin Stoyczev also the host team of France, as well as Slovenia and Turkey participated in the event. Bulgaria took the third place defeating only the national team of Turkey.
Results of the national team of Bulgaria from the „Tournoi de France”:
Bulgaria - Turkey 3:0 (28:26, 25:21, 27:25)
Bulgaria – France 1:3 (35:33, 22:25, 21:25, 18:25)
Bulgaria – Slovenia 2:3 (23:25, 23:25, 25:21, 31:29, 10:15)
Radostin Stoyczev hopes his team will repeat the success from Turkey 2009, when Bulgaria won the bronze medal. On their way to the final they faced the national team of Poland which defeated Bulgaria in three sets. The group match will be a great opportunity for revenge for the last failure. – Bulgaria probably would like to take revenge not only for the ECH, but also for this year’s World League final – reminds Włodzimierz Sadalski, the Word champion and the Olympic champion. – Coach Stoyczev will have to prove himself and the boys that decision to appoint him a coach was right.
