On Sunday, polish volleyball players will start the World Cup playing against Cuba in Nagoya (start at 7:00h). The tournament is the first qualification to the Olympic Games in London. Three top ranked teams out of twelve will gain promotion.

On Sunday, polish volleyball players will start the World Cup playing against Cuba in Nagoya (start at 7:00h). The tournament is the first qualification to the Olympic Games in London.  Three top ranked teams out of twelve will gain promotion.


On Friday the white-and-reds changed the hotel and moved to the one reserved by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). The same day polish players had training with Iran at the training hall where the match will take place. Sparring match of five sets has been performed (with 25 points in the last one).

Poland played sparring match with the following composition: Zagumny, Bartman, Możdżonek, Nowakowski, Winiarski, Kubiak, Ignaczak (l). Then, the coach Andrea Anastasi has allowed several other players to enter the court. The training match ended up with the result 2:3 (25:23, 20:25, 24:26, 25:20, 15:25).

Polish National Team departed to Japan on Monday. On Sunday the World Cup tournament will begin. In Nagoya the bronze medalists of the European Championships will perform three matches – with Cuba, Serbia and Argentina.

Afterwards the polish team will travel to Osaka for the matches against Iran and the host team, and in Fukuoka the rivals of the polish team will be: China, America and Egypt. In the fourth round in Tokyo our players will face Italy, Brazil and Russia. The tournament will finish on the 4th of December.

Three best teams out of twelve participating in the World Cup will qualify to the next year’s Olympic Games in London.

Whereas in London we will see 12 teams. Their composition will be arranged in accordance to the following order: host (Great Britain), three best teams of the World Cup, winners of five continental tournaments and winners of three intercontinental tournaments.
