International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has established new regulations concerning qualifications to the 2016 Olympic games, to take place in Rio de Janeiro.

International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has established new regulations concerning qualifications to the 2016 Olympic games, to take place in Rio de Janeiro.

At the 2016 Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro we will see 12 national teams. The following will qualify to the event:

- host of the tournament

- two teams from the World Cup 2015

- one team from each Continental Volleyball Federation (qualifications from the 2015 Continental Championships or the Continental Qualifications to the Olympic games)

- one team from four Intercontinental Qualification Tournaments to the Olympic games

 

The 2015 World Cup will be the first opportunity to gain the Olympic qualification. In will take place between the 22nd of August and the 22nd of September. 12 teams will participate in the tournament:

- host

- 2014 World Champion

- two national teams from Continental Volleyball Federations, selected during the Continental Championships Or chosen on the base of the FIVB ranking (from the 1st of January 2015)
