- Mozdzonek: They won the war of nerves and mistakes faster than our team
9 June 2013
Brazil defeated Poland 3-1 (25-22, 25-20, 22-25 and 25-15) in the first match of Pool A of 2013 FIVB World League on Friday.
“It's an honour to play in an atmosphere like here in Poland,” said Brazil’s captain Bruno Rezende. “I am really happy with this victory. We've been training really hard, for our young players it is great to win a match against such a strong team. Now we have to focus on the Sunday's match, we have to look into the mistakes we made and work on our play. We hope to have a good match again.”
The home team fell short in their victory, after a battle that involved heavy momentum by Brazil, who continued their domination in the third.
“Congratulations to the Brazilian team for being able to win the war of nerves and mistakes faster than our team,” said Poland’s captain Marcin Mozdzonek. “Now we have a lot to think about. We had our moments, our chances, but we didn't use them. We need more time and work. If we continue to work according to Andrea's [Anastasi, the head coach] plan, I am full of optimism.”
“The Brazilian team played better then us today,” said Poland’s head coach Andrea Anastasi. “We have to improve our system. We don't play like in the last season and we have to keep working to improve.”
Despite Brazil’s win, head coach Bernardo Rezende said the team still has room for improvement in the World League.
“Our job now at the beginning of the season is to find our own system of play,” Rezende said. “We are after an exhausting club season. Poland made more mistakes than usual. We all need more time, hard work and improvement. Our main goal is to get to Argentina and play as well as we can.”
