- Minister of Sport and Tourism, Joanna Mucha, visited the volleyball players in Spała
Karolina Piotrowska, 8 May 2012
The first performances of this year’s season are already behind our polish senior women’s national team. The qualification tournament to the Olympic Games in London, although not successful (the white-and-reds lost in the final with Turkey and only the winner gained the Olympic Games nomination), showed that polish women’s national team slowly returns on its place in the world hierarchy and in the recognition of the fans. A good game on court, new strategies and solutions, volleyball on a high level – all these facts, despite the failure in Ankara, let us look forward to the future with optimism.
Speaking of polish volleyball, the senior men’s national team is training very hard in Spała. Coach Andrea Anastasi has opportunity to work with all the players nominated for the Word League tournament. Next Friday, a very first preparation test of our men’s volleyball team will take place – match against Australia in Łódź competition hall, Atlas Arena.
Furthermore, on Monday afternoon the players who train for the moment in COS Spała (the Sports Centre) has been visited by the Minister of Sport and Tourism, Joanna Mucha. When she entered the hall, coach Anastasi was about to begin the afternoon training. However, the coach stopped the training especially for the head of the polish sport. Joanna Mucha spoke with the coach, with the players and the head of the senior men’s national team, Andrzej Wołkowycki.
At the end of the visit the Minister has been given a ball with autographs. When speaking about the polish national team, the boys train very hard in Spała under constant supervision of Andrea Anastasi. Nobody complains about the injuries. After a match with Australians, on the 14th of May, the national team will go for the first World League tournament this season. In Toronto, between the 18th -20th of May Poland will play against Canada, Brazil and Finland. In term 1st – 3rd of June ‘Spodek’ competition hall in Katowice will host the polish national team, as well as the previously mentioned national teams.
