With only two days to go for the debut of the home heroes on Friday at ERGO Arena – where Poland will play Turkey – many media got the opportunity to follow the last 30 minutes of Wednesday’s training session of the guys in red and white jerseys.

“I feel quite relaxed because I know that we did our job” said head coach Andrea Anastasi. “We evidently respect each one of our opponents but we are not afraid of anyone. I strongly believe in my players” continued the Italian-born mentor while addressing the journalists.
The ERGO Arena is somehow a familiar place for the home guys who here played the finals of the World League in 2011. “I must admit that this is my favourite hall and I am sure it will bring us luck” said middle-blocker Piotr Nowakowski.
Turkey qualified for the VELUX EuroVolley 2013 only via the third round where they needed a golden set to finally cruise past Latvia. “Though they are not that strong on paper, we have to be very careful and play our best to bring it home” emphasized libero Pawel Zatorski.
Next to the journalists and TV crews, the Lord Mayor of Gdansk, Pawel Adamowicz, was also there to express a warm welcome to Poland’s national team and wish them the best of luck for the upcoming Championship.
