- Anastasi: returns from Copenhagen together with the polish national team
Karolina Piotrowska, 17 October 2012
During the next year’s European Championships to be held in Poland and Denmark, the white-and-reds in group B will play with Slovakia, France and Turkey or Latvia. – Maybe our group is not the strongest, but we will not disregard anybody – said Andrea Anastasi. – The fact we are the favorites does not mean we will win all of the matches. Every rival will do its best and mobilize during the matches against us to cut us some points and make a surprise. Therefore, since the very first match we have to play our level of good volleyball.
- In my opinion the most difficult rival in group will be France. This is a young team which, not only once, has proved to be good. We will see how will it look like under supervision of the new coach.
The winner of the 2013 European championships’ groups will promote to the quarterfinal. Teams ranked 2nd and 3rd will Wight for promotion to the ¼ of the final in the playoffs. Teams from group A will face group C, whereas teams from group B will perform against group D. the last one seems to be most difficult.
- As a matter of fact group d is a very strong one – said Andrea Anastasi. – It does not matter against whom we will play, because in every case it is going to be a hard match. It would be good for us to avoid Russia which is ranked 1st in its group, as the team of coach Alekno will surely become the group winner. Nevertheless, none of the teams of group D will be an easy opponent for us.
Coach of our national team keeps on stressing how import for our players will be to perform in our hall and at full tribunes. – We are glad the tournament will be held in Poland. I am sure that Ergo Arena hall will be full with spectators who will provide us with their support. As I have already mentioned before polish fans are very supporting and give us a lot of positive energy.
The drawing of groups for the 2013 Senior Men’s European Championships has been organized on a football stadium Parken Arena, where the final matches are to take place. I like Parken Arena and I AM interested how will it look like during the championships. I hope to have possibility to find out about it when I arrive here with the polish national team to fight for medals – finished Andrea Anastasi.
