President Graça discusses “exciting” development of volleyball in Poland

FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° has expressed his excitement about the future of volleyball in Poland after attending several meetings in the host nation of the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship.

President Graça travelled to Poland to meet with a number of key stakeholders in Polish volleyball ahead of the greatly anticipated Club World Championship, which is set to take place from December 11-17 this year.

During his visit, President Graça met with the Polish Minister of Sport Witold Banka to talk about the importance of volleyball in Poland and the growing passion for the sport in the country.

President Graça also met with the Polish Volleyball Federation Board of Administration, and travelled to the headquarters of Polsat, one of the country’s biggest TV stations, to discuss the potential broadcasting opportunities for volleyball with Polsat owner Zygmunt Solorz-Zak. Following the meeting, President Graça took part in an interview in the Polsat studio, where he spoke about the important role Poland can play in the development of the FIVB Nucleus Project.

Reflecting on his successful trip, President Graça said:

“It was a great pleasure to travel to Poland and see the amazing enthusiasm for volleyball and the excitement for the upcoming Club World Championship. It was an honour to meet with Mr Banka and map out our joint vision for how to develop the sport even further. We spoke in-depth about the development of the sport worldwide, and it was very encouraging to hear the affirmation that Poland is committed to hosting more FIVB events and build on the success of previous hosting experience.

“The FIVB is committed to continuing its close cooperation with the Polish Volleyball Federation Board of Administration. Poland is a key country within the FIVB Nucleus Project and there is great excitement about the future of volleyball here.

“We are all greatly looking forward to the Club World Championship and have no doubt it will be a fantastic event. Poland is known for its passionate fanbase and deep love of our sport, exhibited most recently in the country at the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship and the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World League Finals.”
