Poland overcame Peru in five sets 3-2 (18-25, 25-23, 25-18, 22-25, 15-12) in a dramatic match during the last day of competition in World Grand Prix Pool M at the Gran Chimu Arena in Trujillo.

? Peru recorded their second win in World Grand Prix team history by defeating Canada in four sets in Pool J in the opening weekend of the World Grand Prix. Their only other victory was against the Netherlands in 1994.

Poland’s Katarzyna Zaroslinska topped all scores with 28 points, while Carla Rueda of Peru led the scores for her team with 23 points. Despite their initial errors, Peru led and controlled the first set. Carla Rueda played aggressively and with intelligence using Poland’s block to obtain points for her team. With the support of their fans, Peru won the first set by 25-18. 
The second set was a thriller fight with both teams alternately scoring a series of points; the advantage kept jumping from side to side. Poland's best scorer, Katarzyna Zaroslinski, led her team and controlled the Peruvian enthusiasm in order to win the set by 25-23. 
The beginning of the third set was very similar to the second set's, until scores was levelled at 14 all, but suddenly the hosts' game lost in quality and Poland were able to claim the set 25-18.
The fourth set started well for the host team with powerful spikes and stronger serves. Poland's coach, Piotr Makowski, called a timeout at 15-9 and it helped his team reduce the Peruvian advantage to 16-13. Peru, however, recovered their confidence winning the set by 25-22. 
The last set was a tough battle. Carla Rueda from Peru and Katarzyna Zaroslinska from Poland led their teams in a strong fight for the second place of the pool. The best scorer of the pool, Katarzyna Zarolinska, changed her powerful spikes for intelligent swings and Poland won the fifth set by 15-12.
