Sam Deroo has conquered the Polish courts with excellent technique

The Belgian outside hitter of the reigning Polish champion will be one the brightest stars of the 2017 World Club Championship in Poland. Since he joined ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle two years ago, he has improved his play a lot.

Sam Deroo came to ZAKSA in summer 2015 from Italian Calzedonia Verona, when Ferdinando De Giorgi took the helm of ZAKSA. He was on top of De Giorgi's transfer wish list - a very important list, because the main goal for the coach was to rebuild th power of the club, which finished the 2014/2015 PlusLiga season on 6th place.

- Actually, Sam is a complete player in attack. He has already gained experience in Italian Serie A and in national team, so he will be an extremely important player for us. He will bring a lot of good things to our game and at the same time he still wishes to learn - said De Giorgi.

It wasn't long before all could see that it was not an exaggerated opinion. From the very beginning of his performance in PlusLiga, Deroo proved that he is a player who significantly increases the league's level.

- A varied repertoire of offensive plays is a key element of my performance, because I am not the most well-built player. Thhat's why I have to play smart and show my technique. I'm looking for perfection in everything I do - said the Belgian.

The former pupil of the Belgian national volleyball academy spends his third season in ZAKSA and still impresses with the consistency of his performance. He had a huge part in both titles of the national champion which ZAKSA gained in last two seasons and in winning the 2017 Polish Cup.

- Sam is a crucial member of the team - said Vital Heynen, head coach of Belgian national team during LOTTO EUROVOLLEY 2017. During that event Sam also showed his best skills, leading Belgium to the top4 for the first time in history.

His skills and consistent play secure him a place among the brightest stars of the upcoming World Club Championship. Only a few volleyball players in the world are able to read him. Therefore, having him in the line-up, ZAKSA may calmly face even the most demanding rivals.
