- Kętrzyn waits for young players as EEVZA U-17 Men Championship is about to begin

December 18 – 20 Polish city of Kętrzyn will host the EEVZA U-17 Men Championship. The home team of Poland will face the national teams of Belarus, Estonia, Latvia and Russia in a round robin tournament. The final standing will be decided according to the number of points earned (3 pts for 3:0 or 3:1, 2 pts for 3:2, 1 pt for 2:3 and 0 pts for 1:3 or 0:3), then the ratio of won and lost sets, small points ratio and finally, the direct result of the match between two teams (if they remained tied in all other points).
“Everyone is invited to come and support these young teams. I have no doubt that among them there are a few future medalists of major tournaments in the senior category. I am sure that Kętrzyn will play the role of the Championship’s host perfectly. The local organizers have experience in delivering this kind of sporting events” – said Jerzy Mróz, President of the Volleyball Association of Warmia and Masuria. Indeed, in recent years Kętrzyn organized the Polish Volleyball Championship in the U-17 Men, U-17 Women and U-19 Omen age group categories.
Team Poland, led by coach Maciej Zendeł, has arrived in Kętrzyn on Monday. The final squad of 12 will be chosen from following 14 players: setter - Łukasz Rajchert, Szymon Jezierski; opposites - Tomasz Stysiak, Filip Grygiel; middle blockers - Sebastian Adamczyk, Damian Baran, Łukasz Gronkowski, Piotr Janusz; outside hitters - Tomasz Stolc, Artur Sługocki, Kamil Kosiba, Mateusz Janikowski, Patryk Nowak; libero - Kamil Szymura.
