- I do not hide we would like to win the Young League competition, but we also realize it will not be easy. However, the main goal for our team now is to play with focus on the forthcoming Junior World Championships’ qualifications. It is our priority – says Maciej Zendeł.

- I do not hide we would like to win the Young League competition, but we also realize  it will not be easy. However, the main goal for our team now is to play with focus on the forthcoming Junior World Championships’ qualifications. It is our priority – says Maciej Zendeł, coach of SMS PZPS Spała (School of Sport Championship), who used to be an assistant of Jacek Nawrocki during his work with junior national team. The SMS PZPS is the leader in the Young League ranking without losing a point.

- There are several players in SMS PZPS Spała who participated in this year’s Junior Men’s European Championships in Gdynia. Are these players in your opinion a group leaders?
- There are several players in the group which are the strongest elements of our team. In my opinion these are Jan Nowakowski, Nikodem Wolański, Bartosz Bednorz, Bartosz Filipiak. From younger groups I would mention Aleksandra Śliwa and Bartosz Bućko, who still have a chance to join the youth men’s national team. However, we have to remember that players of the SMS PZPS do not create the national team in total, but are its key players. Therefore, during the Young League matches we would like to learn how to cooperate with one another. A very important season in front of us but if we keep on working hard we should make qualifications to the World Championships a little easier.

- You said that this year Bartosz Bednorz, who used to play for Delic-Polu Norwid, joined the team. There is great potential in this player.
- It is really good that Bartosz Bednorz decided to join our school. We will train him in the team on the position of a receiver. Especially that he played on the same position. He also has played as a spiker. However, it is high time for him to decide on one place on court. I would also like to stress that because of heath reasons - Maciej Muzaja a second valuable player – is missing our team. This is a player who gave us strength during the Junior European Championships. He is 207 cm tall, with big potential and great possibilities. Nevertheless, ho wis he going to use them depends only on him.

- Let us return to this year’s Junior Men’s European Championships. How would you appraise the game of the polish team?
- Looking back at the achievements of these young players in the past few years, they had a chance to win the medal. I would like to express my appreciation to coach Jacek Nawrocki and the whole team, who did great job. Our performance was a proof for our training on holidays. Now I try to work with my team, SMS PZPS Spała, just like with the national one. This is the reason why I look in the future with optimism. What the result will it all bring – I think, we will find it out in a year.
