- Jastrzębski Węgiel secured a spot in the Champions League group stage

Jastrzębski Węgiel faced Omonia Nicosia in the 3rd round of the 2018 Champions League - men qualifications. In the away match the Polish team had claimed a straight-set victory, therefore to qualify for the group stage they needed to win only two sets. They achieved this goal quickly and celebrated another 3:0 victory (25:17, 25:19, 25:16). The 2018 Champions League drawing of lots will be held on November 17 in Moscow.
Jastrzębski Węgiel started the match very well, dominating on court. In the second set, the hosts also reached a high advantage quickly. Damian Boruch was in a class of his own and the guests from Cyprus were unable to stop him. Wojciech Sobala provided a set ball for Jastrzębski Węgiel and Maciej Muzaj closed out the set with qn acrobatic spike which gave the hosts progression to the next round.
Jastrzębski Węgiel are the third Polish club which will compete in the group stage of the 2018 Champions League. ZAKSA Kędzierzyn Koźle (reigning national champions) and PGE Skra Bełchatów (runners-up) were directly qualified for the pool phase.
