For the first time in seven years Polish men’s team will play a semi-final on home soil!

Piotr Kantor and Bartosz Łosiak are the semi-finalists of the World Tour Warsaw 2018! In the quarterfinal they beat the Czech duo Perusic/Schweiner after an exciting tie-breaker.

The Czech pairs were haunting the white-and-reds during the World Tour Warsaw. First, Perusic/Schweiner defeated Kantor and Łosiak in the group phase and then they took a win over Grzegorz Fijałek and Michal Bryl in the second round. Piotr and Bartosz had their revenge though, repeating the last week’s achievement,, when in the semifinal of the four-star event in Ostrava they triumphed over the very same Czech duo. Also this time Kantor/Łosiak won with them 2:1 (17:21, 21:19, 15:11). The Polish team lost the first set, in the second they maintain a safe advantage thanks to as many as three aces! In the tie-break they impressed with effective defence actions and successfully read the direction of spikes from the rivals.

The previous matches of Kantor and Łosiak were not the best ones, due to Łosiak's health problems. However, the quarterfinal seems to have been a breakthrough match.

- Finally, we showed something good. We showed what we've got. On the court we have left our hearts, health, all the best we have. I could say that it was my first game in good shape, because earlier Piotrek had to put more effort in the game and thanks to him, we are in the semis. Today, I can say that we both played on the equal level - said Bartosz Łosiak.

The good disposition of the day led directly to the result. - We need to complement each other, because not every time we both are well. We had some problems also today, but we handled it - added Łosiak.

On Saturday they are going to play one more game. At 18:05 in the semifinal they will face the 2013 world champions from Stare Jabłonki - the Dutch duo Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen.
- It's a pity that today we play also the semi-final. It's our third match during one day. I don't really understand it. Few teams played three matches yesterday, today again and tomorrow only one. It doesn't make much sense, but everyone is in the same situation.

Securing a spot in the semi-finals is a great success and the Polish fans have waited seven years for this. The last time a Polish men's team were in top four at the event on home soil was in 2011, when Grzegorz Fijałek and Mariusz Prudel claimed silver in the Grand Slam event in Stare Jabłonki. In 2015 women's duo Kinga Kołosińska and Monika Brzostek celebrated bronze medal at World Tour event in Olsztyn.

- I think that the fans who travelled around Poland for our tournaments deserve the medal more than we do, so I hope that we will give them one this year - said Łosiak.

In the second semi-final the Latvians Smedins/Samoilovs will play against the Brazilians Evandro/Vitor Felipe (at 17.05). All matches will be held at central court and all medal matches will be played on Sunday.
