#EuroVolleyW 2017: Poland – Germany: post-match quotes

Poland won their first match of #EuroVolleyW against Germany 3:2 (23:25, 25:15, 18:25, 25:23, 15:5). The Poles showed an incredible fight and by this win they claimed two very important points in Pool A.

Jacek Nawrocki, coach of Poland: A win against Germany is a huge thing for us with this squad being at such a disadvantaging age and experience. Regardless of how this championship ends, how it unfolds, for these girls such a match is a mile step ahead. I am very happy that they pushed through mentally and physically because this match cost us a lot of sweat and nerves.

Agnieszka Kąkolewska, middle blocker of Poland: From a very beginning emotions were running high, but if I have to indicate one moment then it would be a situation in the fourth set, when referee didn't recognize our point. We were very angry and first this anger had turned into frustration, but later we were able use it in positive way. Over time, this sports anger was very useful to us. We showed our character and we are happy about it.

Joanna Wołosz, team captain of Poland: A dream start. We knew that it would be a tough match. I am very happy that although we were losing in the fourth set, we were able to get up and we entered a court in the fifth set full of positive energy. Congratulations to every girl, because we put our hearts into the game. At this point, we don't think about advance from preliminary phase, but we stay focused on the match against Hungary. If we will fight like on Friday, then it may be very interesting.
