Confirmed: Russia to participte in the 16th Hubert Jerzy Wagner Memorial

Russia, the gold medallists of LOTTO EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017, will compete at the XVI Hubert Jerzy Wagner Memorial tournament, which will be held from August 24 to 26, 2018 - announced the organizers, who are once again doing their best to provide a world-class event.

It will be the sixth appearance of Sborna in the tournament - they claimed the final victory on two occasions (Olsztyn 2004 and Kraków 2014), twice were ranked 2nd (Katowice 2011, Płock 2013) and last year they finished on the lowest step of the podium.

For Russia - just like for the national team of Poland - the next year's Memorial will be the final test before the 2018 World Championship in Bulgaria and Italy. The 5th place at the last edition of the World Championship was definitely not the peak of their dreams, therefore two weeks before the most important event of the season they should be in top disposition. During the World Championship, Russia will play in Group C against United States, Australia, Tunisia and Cameroon. In the FIVB ranking, the Russians occupy the 4th place.

The next two participants of the XVI Memorial of Hubert Jerzy Wagner will be announced soon, as will be the host city of the tournament.
