It is with great sadness that we inform you about the passing of our great coach Andrzej Niemczyk.

Andrzej Niemczyk passed away on Thursday, June 2 2016, at the age of 72, after a long fight with illness. An outstanding and charismatic coach of Poland women’s national volleyball team, he led them to a double gold medal of the European Championship in 2003 and 2005.

Polish Volleyball Federation would like to offer their most sincere condolences to the Coach’s family and all his loved ones.

Poland Women National Team Coach (1975–1977)

1975 – 6. place at the European Championship in Yugoslavia

1977 – 4. place at the European Championship in Finland

Federal Republic of Germany Women National Team Coach(1981–1989)

1982 – 14. place at the World Championship in Peru

1983 – 5. place at the European Championship in East Germany

1984 – 6. place at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles

1985 – 6. place at the European Championship in the Netherlands

1986 – 13. place at the World Championship in Czechoslovakia

1987 – 9. place at the European Championship in Belgium

1989 – 6. place at the European Championship in Germany

Poland Women National Team Coach (2003–2006)

2003 – Gold Medal of the European Championship in Turkey

2005 – Gold Medal of the European Championship in Croatia

As a club coach:

Champion of Germany: 1982,1983,1984,1986,1987,1988 (SV Lohhof)

Champion of Turkey: 1997 (Vakifbank), 1998 (Vakifbank), 1999 (Vakifbank), 2001 (Eczacibasi)

As well as multiple European titles with German and Turkish club teams.

He will be greatly missed.
