Champions League: PGE Skra Bełchatów - Chaumont VB 52 Haute Marne 1:3

PGE Skra Bełchatów was defeated by Chaumont VB 52 Haute Marne 1:3 (25:19, 18:25, 19:25, 27:29) in the first leg of group stage of the 2018 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men. In the second encounter of this group, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk will clash with Dynamo Moscow.

In the first part of the game the hosts proved that they were the favourites, calmly claiming advantage and winning the set. In the second set though, the French team improved their game. Their reception and service worked excellent, and the roles had been reversed. The guests closed out the set 25:18. The third part started a with point-by-point race. However, the guests managed to take the lead 8:6 and since then the host team had to chase the score. PGE Skra Bełchatów were losing as high as 8:14, but they reduced the gap to 14:16. Very soon, however, the scoreboard was showing 14:19. The host team did not give up, but in the end the Champions League rookie secured their victory over the titled rival.
