- Anticipation mounts for European Volleyball Gala

Volleyball fans can start looking forward to the Drawing of Lots for the pool phase of the 2018 CEV Volleyball Champions League and the annual European Volleyball Gala due to take place on Friday, November 17 in Moscow. All Volleyball lovers will be able to follow the live streaming of the DOL via the CEV Volleyball Champions League Facebook page and the CEV’s official YouTube channel, starting at 4 pm CET (6 pm local time), as well as on LAOLA1.tv. Video highlights of the European Volleyball Gala will follow shortly after the event held in the Russian capital.
The Drawing of Lots for the pool stage of Europe’s elite club competition is definitely one of the major highlights coming up in Moscow – but there is much more to follow since a number of officials, coaches and players will step onto the stage of the European Volleyball Gala to receive awards in recognition of their outstanding performances.
Fans out there can start making their predictions about the eventual recipients of the following awards:
- Male Volleyball Player of the Year
- Female Volleyball Player of the Year
- Men’s Team Coach of the Year
- Women’s Team Coach of the Year
- And some more, including Beach Volleyball…
“I am very glad that the Drawing of Lots of the 2018 CEV Volleyball Champions League and the 2017 European Volleyball Gala will take place in Moscow,” says the President of the Russian Volleyball Federation, Mr Stanislav Shevchenko. “I want to thank the CEV President, Mr Aleksandar Boričić, for entrusting us with the organisation of this important event. The Gala will take place in the heart of Moscow, right opposite the Red Square, in a beautiful, historical place. I am sure that everything will be organised at the highest level, and the guests will take positive impressions from visiting our capital.”
It has been a truly exciting year for European Volleyball with many highlights – starting with the Final Four tournaments of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League, with thousands of fans in attendance in Treviso and Rome where VakifBank ISTANBUL and Zenit KAZAN added another accolade to their impressive resumes.
The 2017 season featured the Final Rounds of the men’s and women’s EuroVolley as well – with Poland playing host to a record-breaking event, which started emphatically with the Opening Ceremony and Opening Match featuring Poland and Serbia played before a 65,407-strong crowd at PGE National Stadium in Warsaw.
Russia and Serbia claimed the top honours from the men’s and women’s EuroVolley, respectively but the exciting year approaching its end featured also an all-time record number of Beach Volleyball events, with the absolute climax being the European Championship held in Jurmala, Latvia.
