- After the women’s ECH drawing of lots
Karolina Piotrowska, 8 October 2012
Coach of the polish senior women’s national team, Alojzy Świderek, rather with optimism looked at the next year’s drawing of groups for the European Championships to be held in Germany and Switzerland in term 6th – 14th of September. In the first phase the white-and-reds will play against Serbia, Czech Republic and Romania.
- The national team of Serbia is a good one. Bulgaria has also make improvements under supervision of the Italian coach. In my opinion, match Czech Republic vs. Romania will belong to the first one – said Alojzy Świderek.
According to the polish coach ‘groups A and D are only stronger on paper than B and C’. – There are three strong teams in group A – Germany, Turkey and the Netherland. The players of Italy and Russia do not have such a strong opponents like Poland and Germany does – added Alojzy Świderek.
The system of the European Championships has not change when compared to the previous event organized in 2011 in Italy and Serbia. The winners of the groups will qualify to the quarterfinal, whereas the teams ranked second and third will compete in play-offs for promotion to the top eight (the team ranked second in one group will face the team ranked third of the other group and the way around).
